ICU baby is excited to be relaunching our ICU Read Program at South Miami Hospital! ICU Read was temporarily placed on hold due to COVID-19 health risk, but our team of volunteers is getting ready to come back!
Some parents are not able to visit their baby in the NICU as often as they would like, for a variety of reasons. ICU baby readers come to the NICU to read storybooks to babies that are not visited often or may need extra stimulation. ICU baby readers provide a soothing voice to help comfort and calm babies.
Research shows that reading to a baby leads to a number of benefits, including improved language skills and brain development.
