ICU baby understands that parents often struggle with who will care for their other children while they visit their baby in the NICU. Childcare costs can be prohibitive, especially when a NICU stay is prolonged and hospital protocol prevents children from frequenting the Units. ICU baby’s goal is to have a designated area in the hospital for siblings to be cared for while their parents spend time in the NICU. We are currently assessing the viability of implementing such a care program at Baptist Health System’s South Miami Hospital and Jackson Memorial’s Holtz Children’s Hospital. Not all babies leave the hospital with a mother, father or even a relative. ICU baby will assist with the 24-48 hour transition of these babies from the hospital and into foster care by providing them with a bag of clothing, blankets, formula and diapers. ICU baby plans to expand it’s support to other NICUs in South Florida. We recognize that all NICU families need support, and we hope to touch each one through our efforts. If you would like to help advance this program, please Contact Us.
